The Polar part of the NOHAB Polar brand name comes from the company AB Atlas, now called Atlas Copco. In 1898 AB Atlas acquired the rights for Sweden to manufacture Rudolf Diesel’s engine under a subsidiary company called AB Diesels Motorer.
